Vipassana Meditation

Vipassana (Mindfulness) meditation is a simple yet profound practice of developing awareness of your present-moment experience. By learning to observe thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations with openness and curiosity, you can cultivate greater inner peace, clarity, and resilience in everyday life.

My meditation sessions are inspired by the teachings of Shinzen Young, whose approach makes traditional Vipassana meditation accessible, practical, and relevant for modern life.

Benefits of Meditation

Meditation is a training in awareness. By learning to observe your inner experience with greater clarity and openness, you can develop skills that support well-being in all areas of life.

Regular practice may help you:

  • Reduce Stress and Increase Calm. Meditation helps you recognize stress reactions as they arise and respond to them with greater ease. Over time, many people experience a deeper sense of inner calm and emotional stability.

  • Develop Greater Self-Awareness. By becoming more familiar with your thoughts, emotions, and habitual patterns, you gain a clearer understanding of yourself and how you relate to the world.

  • Improve Focus and Mental Clarity. Training attention can enhance concentration, presence, and the ability to stay engaged with what truly matters.

  • Work Skillfully with Difficult Emotions. Rather than avoiding or suppressing challenging feelings, meditation teaches a gentle and effective way to experience emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them.

  • Increase Emotional Resilience. Life will always bring change and uncertainty. Meditation can help you meet challenges with greater balance, flexibility, and inner strength.

  • Cultivate Presence and Enjoyment. As awareness deepens, many people discover a greater appreciation for everyday experiences, relationships, and simple moments of life.

  • Support Personal Growth and Transformation. Meditation can reveal limiting beliefs and habitual reactions, creating space for new perspectives, greater freedom, and meaningful change.

  • Foster a Sense of Connection. Many practitioners report feeling more connected to themselves, to others, and to life as a whole.

According to meditation teacher Shinzen Young, mindfulness develops three fundamental qualities:

Clarity – the ability to see your experience clearly.

Equanimity – the ability to allow experience to come and go without unnecessary struggle.

Concentration – the ability to focus attention where you choose.

As these qualities grow, many people find that suffering decreases and a greater sense of freedom, peace, and fulfillment naturally emerges.

Contribution

In the spirit of generosity (dāna), which has traditionally supported the teaching and sharing of meditation, these sessions are offered on a donation basis.

There is no fixed fee. Participants are invited to contribute an amount that feels appropriate and sustainable for their circumstances, while helping to support the continuation of this work.

For anyone who might feel uncomfortable with open-ended donations, I would suggest a contribution of CHF 10–40. This provides guidance while allowing everyone to contribute according to their circumstances and the value they receive from the practice. My intention is that financial considerations should not hinder you from learning meditation.
