Stephen, you rock!

I’m reading “On writing” by Stephen King. I love it, as most of his fans or aspiring writers would/do. Two reasons: First of all, this is the first book of his where I can actually “hear” him, Stephen King himself. Not Carrie White or Stu Redman. But Stephen King. And it was very nice to “get to know” him like that. And funnily enough, he reminds me of Dan Simmons’ Martin Silenius, a satirical character in the epic “Hyperion”. Secondly, what I just absolutely loved is that his tricks and tips for young writers are techniques that I am already applying. And I don’t need to tell you how proud that made feel. Now, of course, that doesn’t mean that my novels will be anywhere close to as successful as his.  And I’m not really counting on that, that’s not the point. But what I love is that I am at least going about it the right way. I have no idea what people will think of my stories when they come out, but what “On Writing” taught me, is that, for what it’s worth, I’m doing a good job just by writing it, and reading it. As Stephen King said, I am not only the writer, I am also the first reader. And this reader likes it. ☺
